Heterogeneous LTE Networks and Inter-Cell Interference Coordination
نویسندگان
چکیده
Initial deployments of LTE networks are based on so-called homogeneous networks consisting of base stations providing basic coverage, called macro base stations. The concept of heterogeneous networks has recently attracted considerable attention to optimize performance particularly for unequal user or traffic distribution. Here, the layer of planned highpower macro eNBs is overlaid with layers of lower-power pico or femto eNBs that are deployed in a less well planed or even entirely uncoordinated manner. Such deployments can achieve significantly improved overall capacity and cell-edge performance and are often seen as the second phase in LTE network deployment.

Inter-Cell Interference Coordination for LTE-A
Multi-layer heterogeneous network layout including small cell base stations are considered to be the key to further enhancements of the spectral efficiency achieved in mobile communication networks. It has been recognized that inter-cell interference has become the limiting factor when trying to achieve not only high average user satisfaction, but a high degree of satisfaction for as many users...
متن کاملA Comprehensive Survey on Various ICIC Schemes and Proposed 3G RF Interference Mitigation Techniques for OFDM Downlink on Cellular Networks
Inter Cell Interference (ICI) still poses a real challenge that limits the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Access (OFDMA) system performance, especially for users located at the cell edge. A common Inter Cell Interference Coordination (ICIC) technique is interference avoidance in which the allocation of the various system resources (e.g., time, frequency, and power) to users is contr...
متن کاملAn Overview on Interference Management in 3GPP LTE- Advanced Heterogeneous Networks
The increasing demand for mobile data traffic brings new challenges on cellular networks in terms of network capacity and increased data throughput. In order to fulfill these demands, Heterogeneous Networks (HetNets) has been considered as a promising solution. On the other hand, Inter-Cell Interference Coordination (ICIC) is a big challenge toward HetNet deployments; in particular users in edg...

The Long Term Evolution (LTE) of the Third Generation Partnership project (3GPP) has recently been investigating new deployment options to deal with sudden increase in demand for mobile broadband services. These strategies are being included in the already frozen Release 10 and in the almost finished Release 11. The final aim is to provide a significant network performance leap especially in de...

This document provides an overview of the inter-cell interference management in LTE/LTE-A as tackled in the 4G++ project work package 4. The 4G++ project addresses two areas: Inter-cell interference coordination schemes and in particular autonomous schemes for uplink interference management, interference alignment techniques and its application in wireless cellular systems, and interference man...
متن کاملLTE Heterogeneous Network: A Case Study
Long terms evolution (LTE) allows using new and wider spectrum up to 20MHz with high data rates and lower latency. This paper provides analysis of the concept of heterogeneous networks as compared to homogenous networks on a realistic scenario of Mosul city and discusses the need for an alternative deployment model and topology to enhance the performance of network. It is clearly demonstrating ...
